Bedroom Ideas to Make Renters Feel At Home

There are several benefits of renting an apartment. You don't have to deal with the overflowing toilet, you're not the one to hire a gardener, and when it's time for re-roofing, you're not the one to pay for it. If you're not staying in a city for a long period, maybe for a vacation, your best bet will be to rent.

Simply because you rent does not mean you're meant to live with the color preference of someone else forever. There are some excellent ways you can jazz up your rental bedroom without permanently damaging anything that you will need to pay for when you want to leave. Below are some ideas for you to feel at home in your rental bedroom.

1. Use blackout curtains

Blocking out light can give your space that dark look, making it excellent for bedrooms. No matter the time of the day, you can block out the light to relax before bed or take that midday nap. They are particularly helpful for people who live in urban areas and would like to shut out city lights that can keep you awake at night.

2. Use a Cozy area rug

You've likely got carpet or tiles on the bedroom floor of your apartment, but that does not mean you cannot place an area rug on top. When you do this, you'll add a huge dose of contrast, texture, pattern, and color to your room. If you have a small bedroom, use a rug that's large enough to fit your nightstand with your bed. If something smaller is what you like, choose a scatter rug that'll fill the space between the wall and the foot of your bed. You can even use a smaller rug to set the place your bare feet will touch as soon as you wake up.

3. Invest in a good mattress

Your bedroom isn’t cozy if your bed isn't comfy! Invest in a good mattress and ensure you keep it in a good state by flipping or rotating it (as recommended by the manufacturer) and try to keep it covered using a waterproof mattress cover. Several manufacturers recommend that you replace your mattress every five to ten years or the moment you start waking up with pains or aches that you can't explain by other factors. Before choosing a mattress, it would be best if you check out the mattress reviews so you can purchase the right one.

4. Use light colors for small bedrooms

You might experience this calming feeling with a cool-toned or dark color, but that can make small bedrooms look smaller. If your bedroom doesn't have much square footage, choose lighter colors, particularly for your walls. A light color scheme in a small bedroom will make it have that airy and bigger feel.

5. Incorporate an Accent Wall

Accent walls that have peel-and-stick wallpapers are excellent for people who would like to add a touch of style and depth to their bedroom. When you use a peel-and-stick wallpaper, you'll be able to try out unique colors and patterns without having to damage walls or worry about repainting the walls anytime you leave the apartment.

6. Keep your gadgets inside bedside tables

We all love technology, but it can be quite distracting and prevent one from getting a night of good sleep when used close to bedtime. Try to get bedside tables that have enough space to keep your laptops, phones, and other gadgets, so they'll be out of sight and out of mind. If the space in your bedside tables isn't enough, you can include more storage in your bedroom.

7. How about ceiling medallion decals?

In terms of decorating the bedroom, most people don't usually think about looking up. Your ceiling is a large space just begging you to add a touch of beauty to it to add extra spice to the whole room. With ceiling medallions, you can surely meet its beautification needs. The only downside to this is that it'll leave damage when you're removing it, so you'll need to fix that when you move out.

Although there is another option, and that's ceiling medallion decals. All you need to do is peel it and press it into place; that's it! Your ceiling that used to be boring will now have a touch of whimsy, elegance, glamour, or any other mood you'd like the medallion to reflect. You don't even need to have a ceiling light fixture as these medallions have designs that look like compasses, retro geometrics, intricate Celtic patterns, butterflies, and several other fantastic ideas.
